Neighbourhood

I Follow Rivers

DThe neighborhood around Nalepastrasse is part of Berlin’s boom corridor Southeast. For half a century, the Funkhaus has been home to culture, music, and creative work. The urban energy is framed by the River Spree, Bullenbruch Island and a growing number of cultural and economic hotspots.

In addition to the legendary Funkhaus Berlin, Funkytown’s influential neighbors include: Stiftung Reinbeckhallen, an independent institution for fostering art, culture and education; Flussbad, a creative campus for art, gastronomy and health services; and Gaswerksiedlung, a home for musicians, sound engineers and artists of all kinds.

Funkytown – A Project by Trockland

In the future, a private campus shuttle will be available to all Funkytown tenants, connecting Funkytown with the Ostkreuz and Ostbahnhof stations every day from 7:30 am to 9 pm.
Many train and bus lines run from these public transportation hubs throughout Berlin and to Brandenburg. It is also possible to reach the campus individually with share cars, scooters or bikes.

2024/05 Concrete renovation in full swing

We’ve given the rough concrete structures a refreshed look. Now they will set the stage for a blend of authenticity and modernity in the new workspaces. It’s a sustainable restoration of history – an innovative reuse of gray energy forged from the site’s legendary roots. And we are striving for even more goals, including a LEED certification. By preserving existing structures and upgrading building substance, we’re reaffirming our commitment, respect, and responsibility to the neighborhood.

2022/08 Campus development at Funkhaus Berlin

With the acquisition of the property at Rummelsburger Landstraße 34–62, we are launching another project development around a historically significant existing building. At the heart of Funkytown is the four-storey administrative building of the former youth radio station DT64, which we are revitalizing with studios and workshops. In addition, eight new buildings with a green, open campus structure with a high quality of stay will be created. The eight new buildings will offer studios, workshop rooms, contemporary accommodation and a variety of flexible office spaces designed for creative and commercial uses and needs.
